Steffano Bollani At Ankara Piano Festival
Last week I wrote about the jazz festival in Ankara. Not getting too far away from that theme, I wanted to mention this concert of Steffano Bollani. The Italian jazz pianist started to learn how to play the piano at age six and at age fifteen, he had already started his professional career. Holding a wide range, he performs classical music, smooth jazz, avant-garde jazz, Brazilian jazz and pop rock. His work has been acclaimed by many including Musica Jazz magazine who named him “Best Jazz Talent of the Year” in 1998 as well as American Downbeat magazine who listed him as the third best youngest jazz musician in the world. He has shared the stage with notable names such as Chick Corea, Lee Konitz, Pat Metheny, Phil Woods and most importantly Enrico Rava, whom he has many collaborations with. And here he is, at play. So, if you’re into it, go see him live on 19 January at 20:30, performing on stage at METU CCC!
As a side note, the concert is a part of Ankara Piano Festival, organized by Altus and it continues all year round. Every month there is another artist performing. You can check the current schedule here. |
