1)For Those Who Want To Visit More Than One Single Exhibition: Doğan Taşdelen Contemporary Arts Center
Did you know that the Contemporary Arts Center, which has been in service for 26 years since its foundation, was first established in a water container? Today, this 7-storey building includes 2 conference halls, 5 exhibition halls and 1 video art room. Four of the exhibition halls are named after artists who left their mark on the Turkish art world: Abidin Dino, Osman Hamdi Bey, Eren Eyüboğlu, Füreya Koral. The other exhibition hall was named to commemorate Andrey Karlov Gennadiyevich, the Russian Ambassador to Ankara, who was assassinated.
Due to its central location, Contemporary Arts is one of the first places that comes to mind when it comes to art. Throughout its more than 25-year history, it is an art center that has hosted countless events. Founded by then Mayor Alper Taşdelen and named after his father, the art center is the perfect place for those who want to visit multiple exhibitions at the same time. In addition to bringing art lovers together with many events from painting to sculpture, photography to mosaic, film to theater, music to festivals, exhibitions are exhibited for a month and since it has more than one exhibition hall, it allows you to see more than one exhibition while you are there.

2)For Those Who Want to Visit The Museum While Going to The Exhibition: Erimtan Museum of Archaeology and Art
If you are interested in art and history, this is the place for you! Here you can both meet with art and go on a historical journey. Erimtan Archaeology and Art Museum was founded by Yüksel Erimtan to preserve cultural history. In addition to being a museum where archaeological artifacts are exhibited, there is also an exhibition hall that hosts temporary exhibitions. Located opposite the Ankara Castle, this museum may look minimalist from the outside because it is made of natural Ankara stone, but the inside of the museum has an extraordinary design unlike the first impression. The floor layout of the museum is designed as if to take visitors on an exciting journey; the entrance floor corresponds to the top floor. This requires visitors to start from the top and work their way down to explore the museum, giving an impetus to their discoveries. On the ground floor there is a gift shop and an area where selected pieces of the collection are on display. A special collection of Anatolian archaeology is housed on the lower floor, and on the ground floor there is an exhibition hall where temporary exhibitions are organized.
The exhibition hall is currently hosting the exhibition “Başlangıç, Bitiş ve Sonsuzluk” by Gencay Kasapçı, the first and only representative of the Zero movementin Turkey. Inspired by nature, this exhibition features nearly 20 works and is on view until February 25, 2024. The artist, who thinks that the dots he uses in his works represent a fetus, draws attention to the fact that every dot has a beginning and an end. If you want to understand the emergence of the Zero movement in Turkey and want to look at these abstract concepts through the eyes of the artist, this exhibition is for you.

3) From Modern Patterns to Traditional Motifs For Those Looking for a Cultural Synthesis: CerModern
CerModern is one of the most popular venues in Ankara that comes to mind when it comes to contemporary art and draws attention with its modern architectural style. Opened on April 1, 2010, CerModern hosts various works of art on an area of 11,500 square meters. The exhibition halls are large and spacious, allowing many works to be exhibited at the same time. The large walls and natural light coming in through large glass panels make it easier for visitors to examine the works in detail. Exhibitions are organized four times a year in these halls. Having more than one exhibition hall, CerModern attaches importance to supporting new artists. For this reason, it often organizes group painting exhibitions featuring more than one young artist. In addition, the collections of old masters are also exhibited here from time to time. If you want to discover new artists and keep up with contemporary art trends, we recommend you not to miss these group and interactive exhibitions! Or if you want to see the works of the masters who shaped the Turkish art world and learn how they were inspired by the times they lived in, this is the place for you.
We visited the exhibition “Acâibü’l Mahlûkāt” of Nuri Abaç, one of the old masters, accompanied by Selçuk Kaltalıoğlu. After a short conversation with Nuri Abaç’s old friend and curator Selçuk Kaltalıoğlu, we learned that the name of the exhibition was inspired by Nuri Abaç’s imagination behind his quiet personality. Kaltalıoğlu describes Abaç as “a quiet artist with a very wide imagination”. Abaç’s paintings include both fantastical and traditional elements, with motifs ranging from mythological characters to Turkish shadow play figures. Having graduated from the Department of Architecture, Abaç’s works are characterized by technical drawings as well as fantastical ones. In 2008, the works of the artist who passed away were brought together by his son Celal Abaç and curator Dilek Karaaziz. Anyone interested in how contemporary art meets the traditional motifs of Turkish culture can visit Abaç’s exhibition until March 31.

4) For Contemporary Art Lovers Who Want to Visit Qualified Exhibitions: Galeri Nev
Galeri Nev was founded in Ankara in 1984 and has since hosted more than 300 exhibitions. Its exhibitions often focus on works by artists known as Turkey’s ‘early modernists’ and two contemporary generations that joined them. Most importantly, he has represented Turkish artists in international fairs such as Stockholm, Madrid and Athens. Visiting Galeri Nev while being aware of this important information makes you feel proud as you walk among the works. If you want to be proud while visiting and understand the modernists while being proud, Galeri Nev will be a good stop for you.
We decided to do something nice for those who are planning to visit Galeri Nev and we visited Necla Rüzgâr’s exhibition “Ben denizle sınanan bir kayayım” at Galeri Nev. Don’t get carried away when you hear the name of the exhibition. Let’s first look at the detailed information we have gathered for you about the exhibition. When we look at the name of the exhibition, we see that being tested by the sea is actually not because of the waves, but because the waves continue non-stop. Since one’s strength would be exhausted after a while, one could not resist the continuity. When we look at the male figure in the ram, the ram represents courage. The man inside the ram represents that the sacred power expected from the man actually kills the man when the day comes. As we said, continuity exhausts the power of man. And the man’s desire to constantly show the power inside him kills him when the time comes. In order to visit the exhibition where such riddles are hidden, it is kindly requested that you do not forget to create space for yourself between 24.02.2024 – 23.03.2024
