Son Feci Bisiklet
Marking the end of my blog, I wanted to do something different. I decided to write about an event that I attended last year. The concert took place in my own university, Bilkent, as a follow-up show after the gala of Sinefest 2015.It was a pretty special night for me because it was the first time I was sent by the university newspaper to cover an entire event by myself. I thought it would be poetic to end my blog, writing about the first event that I reviewed. Moving on to the concert… It was by a band called “Son Feci Bisiklet”, whom I mentioned in one of my earlier posts. The band’s hometown is Ankara which I must admit amuses me, because, it’s nice to finish off my blog “Musical Events in Ankara” by a musical event in Ankara by a band from Ankara. The band consisted of; Arda Tezok (Vocalist), Can Sürmen (Drummer), Efe Güner (Bass guitarist) and Erkin Sağsen (Lead guitarist) was formed in 2011 in Ankara (as mentioned above), which the band members say is their favourite city.
They actually first started to get attention after they were one of the finalists in the music contests “Be the Band” and “Roxy’s Music Days” in 2012. They recorded their first EP in 2013 and made their launch in IF Performance Hall here in Ankara. Their first (and most current) full-length album “Vesaire” was released on June 2015. Their self-described genre is “alternative”, which seems vague in writing but you can find their spotify account below and listen and judge for yourself. And finally the event!
Writing about how they played doesn’t really translate well when a concert is the subject.
I always like to record when the audience decides to join in the band. It is what makes live shows so special and it shows you the true atmosphere of the event. So here is a little audio where the fans sing along to “Bikinisinde Astronomi”, one of their most popular songs. And here is an acoustic performance of them for Akustikhane, which is a great youtube channel you should check out! Apart from acoustic performances from many different Turkish musicians, there are interviews with the artists as well.
