Beauty and the Beast in Ankara For the First Time

One of the most popular productions of Broadway, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast musical, is coming to Ankara for the first time, marking their opening at 26th of November at Ankara Congresium. The crew is currently on a tour worldwide and they will stay and perform in Ankara until the 29th. The organization of the event was held by Alchemy Project Event Management Agency, who operates in Turkey, United Arab Emirates and Brazil, and is the leading entertainment management agency in the Middle East. Beauty and the Beast, tells the unique love story between a man who was cursed to look like a monster, aka the Beast, and Belle, a beautiful girl who accepts to be the Beast’s captive to save her father. If Beast can learn how to love Belle and can be loved by her in return, only then he can be a human again. The story has a long and a bit complicated plot, and I don’t want to spoil anything by saying too much. But on a more personal note, I have to mention that this was my favourite Disney movie growing up and I know every single song in it by heart. So I would highly recommend anyone seeing it. That being said, maybe the fact that this was my favourite movie might not be a good enough reason for you to see it. So here are some exciting facts about the whole production. This musical, which was based on the Disney’s original movie Beauty and the Beast (1991), was first premiered on Broadway in 1994 and it has been on air since then. In fact, it still ranks as one of the longest running and highest grossing Broadway shows of all time. It has received 9 Tony Awards so far and has been performed in 22 countries in 8 different languages. This is not the first time the show has come to Turkey though. They performed in 2014 in Istanbul and it was a huge success. But this is their first time in Ankara and it’s a first for Ankara as well, since it’ll be the one and only Disney-Broadway production taking place in the capital so far. This show is making history!
